Being Light In Your WorldMay 10th, 2011 by Dr. Beth Golden
Isn’t it interesting that as each of us continues on our spiritual journey it all comes down to being Love and Light to those in our homes, work place, and communities. We are light beings covered by these earth suits…our bodies. We really are spirit having a physical experience. And quite often we forget our connection to source and allow our minds and physical chemistry to take us places we really do not want to go. In the New International Version there are 76 references to light.
Matt. 5:14-16…You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven. When we choose to be a light in our communities people are attracted to us like insects to a light burning on a porch at night. The only difference is…hopefully those around us do not get burned in our presence as bugs do when doing the night light dance.
John 8:12 I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. The light of life!!
1Thes 5:5 You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. It is like taking a flash light in a dark room. You can see all the little messes her and there. In the light they get cleaned up…or transformed just as we do when we ARE light and when we stay in the light.
And one of my favorites: Matt. 6:22 The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
Are you a light in your world? Do you respond in kindness when your first instinct would be to snap at someone? Do you bring meals to the ill or those who are house bound? Are you selfless…doing something for another without expectation of anything in return? Just remember…Blessed are the cracked for they let their light shine!
